I LOVE being pampered. I know, you’re probably thinking “who doesn’t?” Though aside from the hair appointments I book every 8-10 weeks, it’s not usually something I treat myself to often. That has to change.
As a pregnant blogger, I was invited to attend the second Pregnancy Pamper Retreat held in Prahran, Melbourne. The Pregnancy Pamper Retreat was created and hosted by Katrina Zaslavsky, Author of “A Modern Woman’s Guide to a Natural Empowering Birth” and Founder of Birth Goddess, and Emily Jones, Founder and Practitioner of Acacia Wellness. These two women, both mothers themselves, are passionate about and committed to supporting women though their journey into motherhood. From conception, through the entire pregnancy, to birth and new life. They both dedicate their time to empowering women in their birth experience, transforming fear to peace, power and calmness.
This retreat, hosted over 4 hours at the incredible Morocco Lounge in Greville Street, was purely a day for their expectant guests to relax, be pampered and try new therapies. As we arrived prepared for a day of luxury we were greeted by a special guest belly dance performance to kick things off – the perfect start!
Then it was time to well and truly relax. The choice of treatments on the day included massage, make up, facials, hand scrubs, reiki, manicures, hand or body henna, belly art and my personal favourite, reflexology.
Not only that, in between our pamper sessions there was plenty of time to mingle with the other pregnant women and friends while we were treated to gourmet sweet and savoury food and delicious pregnancy specific teas.
The cost of your ticket includes all of the above, though the amount of treatments you indulge in depends on the type of ticket you purchase, and no one leaves empty handed! You will take home with you the most extravagant gift box I have ever seen (not to mention additional and VERY generous door prizes). The sponsors and hosts of this incredible event, went above and beyond to spoil us all with the most amazing products, vouchers and gifts, both for mum and for baby. It’s also important to mention that your ticket also helps to raise much needed funds for the Miracle Babies Foundation, who work tirelessly to support sick and premature babies and their families. A cause that’s beyond worthy.
If you are planning a pregnancy, are already pregnant or know someone who is (this makes the best gift!), please keep an eye on the website and head over to “like” the Facebook page to be the first to know about upcoming retreats as these events have sold out fast! My baby will be here before the next event, but if we plan a third child, I’ll be signing up to indulge again. What better excuse?
