I love make up. Always have. It just took some time to work out how to apply it and what looked good on me. The first time I was ever professionally made up was for my wedding and I learnt a lot of useful tips – including how to apply false lashes, which I am obsessed with. They only ever come out for weddings or special events though. A good mascara will work for anything else.
This may sound weird or vain (or both) but 8 years ago I was going through a very heartbreaking and emotional break up from my ex-fiancé. I was staying with my family for a few days and was the most miserable I’d ever been. I don’t remember what I was doing that day, but I decided to put something nice on, do my make up and stop moping around. I vividly remember looking in the mirror and feeling so much better, knowing that life was going to go on for me and everything would be ok. See, weird right? But doing my make up and making an effort with my appearance helped. Messy hair and pajamas didn’t.
Here are my choice of cosmetics for a night out. For day wear I use the same, but ditch the pencil eye-liner and lipstick. I don’t wear anything on my lips. I prefer the natural colour and I’m much more about making up my eyes.

The next best thing you can have is a good friend who is also a make up artist. I’m grateful to have one of the best.
With the above, you can’t tell I’ve been woken up at 5am the last few nights with a coughing baby!
